Medication - yay? or nay?

Hi all

I'm absolutely terrified about continuing my medication for anxiety. I was put on Citalopram over 3 weeks ago and it just made me feel out of it. However, last weekend I had this unexplainable wave of depression and dark dark thoughts about wanting to hurt myself badly. I am on 20mgs a day but I have just started to take half a day now. I am scared! I told my doctor and hey told me that it will pass and to persevere for another 2 weeks. Anyone else felt like this?

Hi Joshua! no She is not on anything else. She was on Prozac for a few months but the doc decided to change her meds about 3 weeks ago.

I recently went trhough a messy divorce, which is making my blood pressure rise and forced me to start taking Valium and experementing with xanax. Initially the doctor prescibed me valium for sleep, helped very minimally, kept me asleep, but the quality of sleep was still garbage. I always wake up after 8 hours of sleep feeling like I got 2 hours sleep, eyes dry and bloodshot. Migraines or headaches in the morning and throughout the day. This situation is also affecting My Sex Life (or lack there of) in a big way. Could it be the valium im taking? or should I look into sexual Health medication?

Kristin, is your daughter taking anything else apart from Fluvoxamine?

My daughter, Kristin is 15, she is taking Fluvoxamine but it is making her very sleepy all the time! I am very concerned about her and wondered if anyone else has had any experience with this medication?

oh and trazodone to be able to sleep at night, and alertec to be able to stay awake during the day, funny isn't it?

i take the anti depresant cipralex. it is for moods but I think it also helps with anxiety

Great idea for a group since medication is a major concern for all of us suffering from mental health issues. Plus, its usually the first kinda of help a doctor offers.

Finding the right medication is a lengthy process, as its trial and error. I dread the experience on a whole because there are so many side effects that come along with taking medications.

I am looking forward to hearing peoples opinions and feedback.

I was on beta blockers for a bit but came off as they did not do anything for me. Think I may have to go see the doctor next week and try something else. But my usual doctor has left and I'm so anxious about having to explain things to a new doctor!

i used to be on prozac, my doctor decided not to put me on it though and came round my house at 3am...bit odd!! lol
im on citalopram atm, dont think i could function without it though, although i do still get the odd panic attack, and feeling of anxiousness, esp now as iv started a new job!!
